After a historic treble last season, there was a high chance a Barcelona FemenĂ star would take home footballâs biggest award.
This year, the honour goes to Alexia Putellas who was awarded the Ballon dâOr FĂ©minin 2021 on Monday evening.

The Barcelona star was crucial to the clubâs recent success which included winning their first-ever UEFA Womenâs Champions League title after beating Chelsea 4-0.
The 27-year-old midfielder made 57 appearances for club and country in 2021 recording 39 goals in the process.
Putellas joins the likes of Norwayâs Ada Hegerberg (2018) and the USAâs Megan Rapinoe (2019) to win the award.
