Barcelona are moving quickly to build their squad for the new season. After securing some important signings, the club now needs to make space by letting a few players go.

According to MARCA, everything points to Andreas Christensen as the defender most likely to leave this summer.

Right now, Barcelona have five centre-backs on the roster and Deco, the club’s sporting director, recently said that one of them will have to go.

Barcelona have made progress with new arrivals. They have already signed Joan Garcia, are working hard to finalise a deal for Nico Williams, and are also close to bringing in Roony Bardghji.

But to register these new players smoothly and keep the wage bill under control, the club must offload some players. Clement Lenglet and Alex Valle have already sorted their futures, but Christensen’s situation is now the main focus.

Milan interested, but Christensen prefers stay

Christensen, who joined Barcelona from Chelsea, has just one year left on his contract. The Danish defender wants to stay at the club until his deal ends and hopes to fight for more playing time under Hansi Flick.

He has already turned down offers from Saudi clubs and refused a move to Juventus in January, showing he is determined to prove himself at Barcelona.

Despite his wish to stay, clubs across Europe still want him. AC Milan are one of the teams interested, as they look to strengthen their defence this summer.

However, reports say the Italian giants have someone else as their top target, so Christensen isn’t their priority yet.

Barcelona’s need to reduce their salary expenses makes Christensen’s exit important. But if the Danish international insists on staying and working for a spot, it could make things difficult for the club.

In the coming weeks, Barcelona will need to find a solution, balancing their plans for new signings with the need to finalise key departures.
