After joining Barcelona from Nastic last summer, Jan Virgili enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with Juvenil A and Barça Atletic.

The 18-year-old winger was an important part of Juliano Belletti’s Juvenil A side that won the treble and also racked up four goals and two assists from 17 games for the reserve team.

Currently a part of the Spain national team at the UEFA U-19 European Championship, Virgili played a key role in their semi-final win over Germany recently.

Virgili wants pre-season tour with Flick’s Barcelona

Speaking to Jijantes earlier today, Virgili expressed his desire to be a part of the Barcelona first-team squad’s pre-season tour of Asia this summer.

“I wish I could go on the Asian tour, it would be a f***ing dream. To see the importance that Hansi gives to the youth system is nice,” said Virgili.

Continuing, he added: “You have to be confident [of making it to the first team] regardless of whether you’re signed.”

As has already been reported, Virgili is expected to be one of eight La Masia talents that Flick will take along for the Asia tour next month.

Another player who is expected to be on the flight is left-back Jofre Torrents, who happens to be a close friend of the winger.

“I share a room with Jofre Torrents, and with Barça Atlètic we shared a room. Very good,” he noted.

Talking about the Spain U-19 camp, Virgili added: “The camps end up being long. We’ve been here for 20 days and it’s the same routine every day.”

Regarding their recent win over Germany in the semi-finals, the teenage winger said: “We didn’t have the feeling that we had lost the game. They scored two in two minutes and we knew we could do the same.”
