Among all the players at Barcelona, one who was least expected to endure a bad season this term was Alejandro Balde.
The young left-back was coming on the back of a stellar season last term and following the departure of Jordi Alba, he was expected to become the undisputed number one left-back for Barcelona this season.
However, Balde has endured a tough spell lately and his prominence in the first-team has reduced by a significant margin in recent weeks.
This is largely due to Joao Cancelo establishing himself as Xavi’s number-one choice in the left-back position. And this trend is unlikely to fade anytime soon given the performances of the Portuguese international.
Despite Balde’s recent struggles, SPORT suggests that the youngster will continue to receive opportunities at Barcelona.

As per the report, Balde, who was angry with the coaching staff for not receiving minutes against Atletico Madrid, is expected to start in the next game against Girona.
Barcelona take on their Catalan rivals this coming Sunday. Balde may also feature against Royal Antwerp, in what will be Barça’s final game in the Champions League group stages.
As Barcelona look to contemplate the future of Balde and his usefulness to the squad, Premier League clubs are keeping close tabs.
Several English teams are interested in acquiring the services of the Spanish international, who currently has a whopping €1 billion release clause in his Barça contract.
Given Barcelona’s desperation to add fresh revenue to the balance sheets, it won’t come as a complete surprise to see the Catalans consider a potential sale of Balde in the coming future.
However, before that uncertain period arrives, Balde is likely to have enough chances to prove himself and retain his place as one of the most important players in the Barcelona project.
