Barcelona’s squad registration on the official LaLiga website is starting to raise eyebrows, with a few major surprises standing out just over a week before the new season kicks off.
One of the most notable changes involves Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who currently does not have a shirt number.
The German goalkeeper’s omission comes at a tense time. He is currently in a standoff with the club after refusing to sign off on the medical report from his surgery, creating friction behind the scenes.
It is unclear if this lack of registration is directly linked to his long-term injury or if the club is preparing for a different move involving him.

Meanwhile, Inigo Martinez, who is set to join Al-Nassr this summer, has also been stripped of his numbers.
In the wake of this movement, his number 5 shirt has been handed to young defender Pau Cubarsi, indicating the club sees him as a key figure going forward.
Elsewhere, Lamine Yamal now officially holds the number 10 shirt, a clear sign of trust from the club following his recent contract extension until 2031. His new deal has been successfully registered with La Liga.
However, things get murkier with Barcelona’s latest signings. Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford still do not have assigned numbers, and Wojciech Szczesny, whose contract was recently renewed, has yet to be re-registered.

Promising talents Gerard Martin and Marc Bernal, both expected to be integrated into the first team, are also missing from the La Liga list.
At this moment, Barcelona have only 17 players registered, the minimum required to begin the LaLiga season.
Unless the club acts quickly, several players could be left in limbo, and Flick’s side might enter the new campaign severely short-handed.
