Barcelona’s economic situation has changed the Catalans’ approach in the transfer window. The club are approaching players who do not receive playing time at their clubs or are in the final year of their contracts.

Yet, it was not so long ago that the Spanish side was linked with Erling Haaland. The Norweigan prodigy has been a target for several of Europe’s elite and is expected to make a big-money move in the summer.

El Nacional reports that Barcelona will have to let go of one of four big names if they are to pull off the striker’s transfer. Needless to say, the names on the list are integral players to the team, for the Borrusia Dortmund star would only come at a premium.

The first name on the list is Marc Andre ter Stegen. Though a move for the German two years ago would seem to be unimaginable, the scenario is no longer the same.

Ter Stegen has been on a steady decline over the past few months and has not looked the same. Nevertheless, Xavi considers him an integral part of the setup.

The second name on the list is Frenkie de Jong. The Dutch midfielder has failed to replicate his Ajax form at Barcelona, and frustration is now beginning to creep into fans’ minds. The rise of La Masia stars Nico and Gavi have also played a role in the pale view of the 24-year-old.

Memphis Depay is the next name to be brought up. The former Lyon captain has started well at Barcelona but also struggled to take up duties as a striker – despite his great form with the Dutch national team. With the need for a finisher outweighing the requirement for his profile, he could be sacrificed.

The final name on the list is Pedri. The golden boy winner is a target for many European clubs. Reportedly, Bayern Munich are willing to break the bank to bring the midfielder to Germany.

Nevertheless, it is unlikely that Barcelona would give up a player who promises to be their future, but an offer that would exceed the demands for the 19-year-old could very well change the scenario.
