In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona would have to pay €60m for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. It has been revealed that the Catalans are eyeing a move for the Spanish midfield ace this summer.

Zubimendi’s Impressive Run Of Form In Spanish Football

Zubimendi is having a solid campaign at the Reale Arena after producing a run of impressive displays at the heart of Sociedad’s midfield. The 23-year-old has registered three goals and two assists in 46 matches for the Spanish club this season on all fronts.

Should Barcelona Boss Xavi Move In For Zubimendi This Summer?

Zubimendi is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger quickly to earn the ball back for his side at the centre of the park. He usually clears the danger when needed and is an accurate passer of the ball as well. Zubimendi is primarily a defensive midfielder but can even play as a box-to-box midfielder if required.

At 23, the Spanish talent is only going to get better with each season, so Barcelona boss Xavi would be wise to try and make an attempt to land the player during this summer transfer window. However, only time will tell whether he is good enough to handle the high expectations of a move to a top club like Barcelona where he will be expected to perform week in week out.

We can expect Zubimendi to add more bite and steel to Barca‘s midfield and serve as a good, long-term successor to Sergio Busquets at the Nou Camp. Thus, it makes sense for Xavi to move in for the Spanish sensation when the transfer window commences later this year. Zubimendi could even help the Catalan giants close the gap to Real Madrid at the top of Spanish football in the coming seasons.
