Barcelona wonderkid could make Champions League history if he scores vs Young Boys | OneFootball

In a short time at the highest level, Barcelona teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal has enjoyed a rapid rise to stardom, breaking several records along the way.

Just 17 years old, the La Masia sensation is already being heralded as one of the best in the world at the moment and has also been tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Yamal could make history vs Young Boys

As mentioned earlier, in his short senior career thus far, Yamal has broken a plethora of records for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

However, one of the records that got away from him was that of the youngest goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League – which his teammate Ansu Fati holds (17 years and 40 days).

After all, Yamal did not score his first Champions League goal until last month when he found the back of the net against AS Monaco (17 years and 68 days) albeit in a losing cause.

But, the La Masia sensation has a shot at making history tonight when Barcelona take on Young Boys in their second UEFA Champions League match of the season.

If Yamal finds the back of the net tonight at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, he will become the first-ever player in history under the age of 18 to score in consecutive Champions League matches.

Yamal has already made a blazing start to the season, bagging five goals and assists each in nine matches across all competitions.

Considering his form and the level of tonight’s opponents, one would not put it past the 17-year-old to find the back of the net. History beckons for the Barcelona sensation.
