Lamine Yamal is just one full season into professional top-flight football, yet, has already done enough to be regarded as one of the best footballers on the planet.
The La Masia graduate grabbed eyes at the beginning of last season as a talent who consistently punched significantly higher than his peers. By the end of the season, he was already seen as one of, if not the best player on the planet.
As the 2025/26 season approaches, he is prepared to take up more responsibility for the Catalans.
For starters, he will inherit the number 10 shirt from Ansu Fati and one can just tell that he will thrive under the pressure.
Mundo Deportivo, however, brings another update on Yamal’s ‘responsibilities’.
As relayed by the Spanish outlet, Yamal will return to training under Hansi Flick on July 13th and he has set special targets for the season, which include him stepping up to the limelight a whole lot more. Surprisingly, the same day happens to be his birthday.

The youngster, however, sees a lot of potential to improve in his game and now sees himself capable of taking over the penalty and free-kick duties for the Blaugrana.
Needless to say, his acceptance of the new responsibility opens up a whole new territory in his game and a dangerously high ceiling.
He is, after all, the highest-valued player on the planet as of today, and his value could even jump higher in the coming years, given his age.
Last season, Yamal was already Barcelona’s single most important player in all high-stakes games.
The recent penalty he took for Spain in the UEFA Nations League against France suggests that he has worked extensively on the same, and he could well take over as the primary set-piece taker next season.
