AS Monaco are in talks with Barcelona to sign winger Ansu Fati (22) on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano and L’Equipe. The Spain international is set for a fresh challenge in Ligue 1 after playing a peripheral role in Barcelona’s title-winning campaign. The winger has only featured six times in La Liga this season. The Italian reporter understands that Les Monégasques are close to wrapping up Fati’s loan move. The loan would include an option to buy and a sell-on clause for Barcelona.
Fati would be keen to link up with Adi Hütter’s Monaco side. The Ligue 1 team finished the season in third place, which means they qualified for the Champions League. Fati would be the second signing of Monaco following the free transfer of England international Eric Dier, whose Bayern Munich contract expires next June.
L’Equipe adds that Fati’s expected arrival means that Monaco would be ready to part ways with at least one of their in-demand wingers, like Aleksandr Golovin, Eliesse Ben Seghir, or Maghnes Akliouche.
