In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo mentioned that Barcelona are willing to accept €25m for Antoine Griezmann who is currently playing on loan at Atletico Madrid. It has been revealed that the Catalan giants could lower their asking price for the French attacker next summer which could open the door for Diego Simeone’s side to seal a permanent move for him.

Griezmann’s Impressive Numbers As A Substitute This Season

Griezmann has made a decent start to this campaign as he has managed to put in a few productive displays for Atletico in the final third. The 31-year-old has registered three goals and one assist in eight matches for the Spanish outfit this season across all competitions.

The experienced forward has made most of his appearances off the bench and has been a good performer as a substitute based on his average of 1.5 shots and 0.7 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 88.6% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

The Macon-born talent is currently in the second year of his two-year loan spell at the Wanda Metropolitano. Barca‘s willingness to lower their demands could see the French striker finally seal a permanent move away from the Nou Camp next summer.

Griezmann has got the technical qualities to hold possession up in the opponent’s half for his team. He excels at creating space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. The Frenchman can be a good finisher in the final third when he is playing regularly on the field. He has got the vision to create some decent plays for others around him but has lost a yard of pace from his game of late.

Still, someone of Griezmann’s experience and skill set is no doubt good enough to feature in the Spanish top-flight week in week out. At the moment, Barcelona have no room in their squad to keep hold of Griezmann.

Thus, it is only logical for the Catalan club to sanction the French playmaker’s permanent departure as long as their demands are met. Hence, it will be a good move for everyone involved as the player can also benefit a lot from a change of scenery at the end of this campaign.
