FC Barcelona continue to work on developing the depth of their squad and even their youth ranks. Despite their financial shortcomings, the Catalan giants continue to work their way around their limitations. While La Masia has greatly helped Barcelona in recent times, the club has also looked outwards for new potential recruits.

Their latest adventures take them to the talents of Africa, a region where Barcelona is hoping to find new emerging pearls in the years to come. With their new agreements in place with the Africa Foot Academy, La Blaugrana can have their pick of the bunch from their most promising talents.

For Barcelona, however, their eyes have been set on acquiring a certain 17-year-old Ibrahim Diarra since last winter. Having managed to impress the club during his trial period there, the Catalan giants have already informed the player from Mali that their intention is to sign him for Barcelona Atletic, as highlighted by SPORT.

At the moment, it is expected that he will return to Barça at some point in December once he turns 18. After that point, he will be a part of Albert Sanchez’s team and it is expected that his development will then get to dictate if the club deems him to be ready for the first team.

In order to better explain the exact kind of profile that Barcelona is looking to sign, Vinyl Tong is an international scout who says the following about the African winger:

“Diarra has an extraordinary strength and power with the ball, combining tremendous physicality with finesse in his dribbling. His shot on goal is equally impressive. That power, that stride, that ability to beat defenders, and his strong shot make him a formidable attacker. He will be a game-changing player.”

A more than promising youngster, it remains to be seen how well he readjusts to Barcelona once he returns. The Catalan club has already made up their mind about him, and they believe that the impression he left during his trial period will be one that he can sustain once he arrives on a permanent basis.
