Barcelona have made positive strides this week in their pursuit of Robert Lewandowski. They have been greatly helped by the player himself, who has been vocal about his desire to put an end to his career at Bayern Munich.
The forward may have even coerced the Bavarians to consider a sale in the coming summer, with the club reportedly willing to listen to offers for their prized attacker.
Barcelona are the only possible suitor for Lewandowski and in its latest report, Diario SPORT has cited Polish sources claiming Barça are prepared to meet Bayern Munich’s €40 million demands.
They are willing to pay additional performance-related bonuses in order to ensure Bayern cannot refuse the offer.
Lewandowski, for his part, has shown his frustration at Bayern for trying to block his potential exit in the summer. Hence, they are more than likely to accept Barcelona’s €40 million bid, keeping in mind they could lose the player on a free transfer in 2023.
In addition to helping Barcelona out on their operation, Lewandowski reportedly has an agreement with the Catalans over personal terms. The forward is expected to sign a three-year contract and become the central figure of Xavi’s setup.
The Pole’s agent Pini Zahavi was in Barcelona recently, presumably holding talks with the club bosses over the contract. He also reportedly bought ten jerseys from the official store, with his client’s name on the back.
Hence, the arrival of Lewandowski could only be a matter of time, although Bayern could potentially delay the process as they look to find a proper replacement before accepting a bid for their star striker.
