In terms of competing for trophies, Barcelona’s season is done and dusted, with losses to PSG and Real Madrid proving to be the final nail in the coffin.

But there are side quests that still offer a glimmer of hope for salvaging some pride and momentum heading into the next season.

For example, making top two in La Liga could go a long way, as Barcelona would be able to qualify for the Spanish Super Cup next season and subsequently benefit from a financial boost.

Moreover, on an individual level, Lewandowski’s hunt for the Pichichi trophy serves as a captivating subplot.

The Polish talisman trails three goals behind Girona’s Artem Dobvyk, who presently leads the list.

Goals could come costly

While Barcelona would be aiming to see Lewandowski salvage some pride with a potential Pichichi victory, his upcoming goals could take a toll on the club’s pocket.

Indeed, according to Javi Migue of AS, a condition in Barcelona’s agreement with Bayern Munich states that they will have to pay the Bavarians €1.25 million if Robert Lewandowski scores two more goals before the season ends.

Indeed, the clause stipulates that Bayern Munich would earn €1.25 million in the event that the attacker exceeded 25 goals per season in official matches.

Currently on 24 goals for the season, two more strikes would mean Lewandowski crosses the 25-mark, stipulating Barça to shell out €1.25 million, like they did last season as well when he netted 33 times.

This would be in addition to the €45 million fee the Catalan giants paid for Lewandowski back in 2022.

Given Barça’s financial complications and the fact that the summer transfer window is on the horizon, any further leakages could prove detrimental.

As such, Barcelona faces pressure to achieve their goals in La Liga, while also risking a financial hit if Lewandowski rattles the back of the net on just two more occasions.

Nonetheless, Barça would much prefer that Lewandowski’s goals help secure a top-two finish, as the financial gains from this achievement would overshadow any losses incurred.

Lewandowski could be on his way out

Not only is his salary rise and age an issue, but Xavi believes that Lewandowski will no longer regain his best levels next season.

Therefore it remains to be seen if an exit materializes this summer for the veteran striker.
