Leeds United’s final day win against Brentford to save themselves from the brink of relegation had been believed to have served as a massive blow to Barcelona’s hopes of signing Raphinha.

The Brazilian forward is considered a top target for Barça this summer, as they prepare for life without Ousmane Dembele.

Raphinha had a special clause involved in his deal that would have reduced his exit fee to just €25 million. Barcelona were expected to make a move right after Leeds’ relegation.

But despite their safety, it appears the Catalans have retained their interest in the attacker and want to go through with the deal, reports Diario SPORT.

The Spanish news outlet suggests Leeds United’s survival will not impact Barcelona’s pursuit of Raphinha, as they are willing to cough up around €40 million for the Brazilian superstar.

The attacker’s current exit clause stands at around €45 million and one would expect Leeds United to sanction the sale, knowing it could go a long way in offering fresh funds for new coach Jesse Marsch to rebuild his team.

Seeing Leeds had already rejected a €35 million approach earlier, Barcelona are willing to make the last push by including Oscar Mingueza as part of the deal. The club are aware of Leeds’ precarious situation and their struggles with injury over the past 12 months.

The opportunity to sign someone like Mingueza, therefore, could be difficult to turn down. Leeds themselves have shown the desire to sign the young Spanish defender, as they look to shore up their options at the back.

Leeds’ green light will be enough to complete the deal as Barcelona already have an agreement in place with Raphinha over personal terms. So it could only be a matter of time before we see the Brazilian don the Blaugrana next season.
