According to Javi Miguel on Culemania, Barcelona are unlikely to pursue a replacement for Hector Bellerin in case the full-back leaves the club before the January transfer window slams shut.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Sporting CP over the past couple of days as a possible replacement for Pedro Porro, who is a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Earlier today, David Ornstein reported that Porro’s move to the the Premier League is on the verge of collapsing, which could jeopardise Bellerin’s transfer to Portugal.

But, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Tottenham and Sporting CP are still in talks to sort out the details for the Spanish right-back’s transfer. All parties are in contact to resolve the transfer and in such a scenario, Bellerin moving to Portugal still remains a viable option.

The 27-year-old has struggled to fit in at Barcelona since arriving in the summer. Having failed to carve out a place for himself in Xavi’s plans, the right-back is open to leaving Camp Nou this month and is open to signing for Sporting.

But, for that to happen, Porro’s move to Tottenham must still go through.

In case things get moving, Barcelona do not intend to sign a replacement for Bellerin this month as they believe that in Sergi Roberto and Jules Kounde, the position is covered for the remainder of the campaign.

Furthermore, with the Financial Fair Play margin being as it is, the Catalan giants would find it difficult to rope in a replacement for the Spaniard. His departure is unlikely to create much margin either as it would free up around €250,000 on the wage bill.

For now, Bellerin will be waiting to see if Porro’s transfer to Tottenham is back on so that he can secure a move to Sporting before the transfer window slams shut.
