After it emerged that Marco Asensio will leave Real Madrid at the end of his contract this summer, a long line of suitors have forth to sign him up as a free agent.

There is interest from the likes of Aston Villa, AC Milan, and Juventus while PSG are already in advanced negotiations over a move for the 27-year-old.

Apart from these clubs, another team to have shown an interest in Asensio are Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona.

Indeed, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana like the Spanish international a lot and believe that he would be a perfect fit in their squad.

The club’s sports management team is high on Asensio while manager Xavi Hernandez is also understood to be a strong admirer. As such the report states that Barça believe that his signing would elevate the level of the team and make them much stronger, especially in Europe.

However, despite their admiration towards Asensio, Barcelona are not looking to sign him even though he would be available for free this summer.

This is because the La Liga champions do not wish to create a conflict between themselves and Real Madrid by moving for the Spaniard right after he has left the Santiago Bernabeu.

Barcelona believe that Los Blancos could take it as an offense if they signed Asensio now and could go after one of their own players. As such, they will avoid making an attempt for the winger even though his agent, Jorge Mendes, is a close aid of the Catalan club’s president, Joan Laporta.
