FC Barcelona plan on bringing in a new right-back in the summer transfer window, to add more depth and competition in the position.

Marc Pubill of UD Almeria has emerged as one of the potential targets for the Blaugrana, having held an interest in signing the 21-year-old starlet last summer as well.

Pubill to cost at least €20 million

Now, according to Fichajes, Almeria will demand at least €20 million to part ways with Pubill in the summer, amidst interest from Barcelona.

Pubill has shown a great level of maturity for his age, excelling in both attack and defence. His speed and accuracy in crossing the ball have been key assets for Almeria, who regard the right-back as one of the cornerstones of their squad.

As such, the second-division club have made it clear that they will not let Pubill leave for less than €20 million.

Barcelona, for their part, are monitoring his development closely in La Liga 2 and seriously considering the possibility of bringing the promising defender to the team in the next transfer window.

However, the Catalan giants, aware of the player’s potential, know that securing his services will not be easy.

But they are considering making an economic effort to complete the deal in the summer, having missed out on his acquisition in 2024 due to Financial Fair Play issues.

Pubill, who has a contract at Almeria until 2029, has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season, registering one assist.

Having a player of his potential as competition for Jules Kounde could be a boost, given that Hansi Flick has appeared quite reluctant to use Hector Fort this season.
