According to Florian Plettenberg, Barcelona are pushing to sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah, as he is considered Hansi Flick’s ideal target.
It had previously been reported that the Blaugrana were considering a move for Tah after walking away from a deal to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Mohamed Simakan, who could now move to Newcastle United.
However, there is an understanding that Barcelona would not be able to match Leverkusen’s €30 million demand for Tah due to their financial issues.
Nevertheless, it is believed that the Spanish outfit have made an offer of €20 million for the German international as they look to tempt Die Werkself into selling for a cut price as they are not a league rival.
This is because, as stated in the report, Bayern Munich, who have been linked with a move for Tah all summer, are still discussing whether to bring Tah to Bavaria before the end of the transfer window.
Die Werkself have made it clear that Bayern would need to pay €30 million for his services, but Leverkusen could be tempted by Barcelona’s offer, with Tah making it clear he wants to leave the club.
Therefore, Barcelona’s bid remains on the table, but Bayern are waiting to put their offer in after a new round of talks with Tah’s management took place on Wednesday.
