Over the past week or so, there has been a rise in the speculations surrounding the future of Barcelona forward Ansu Fati.

The 20-year-old La Masia ace has found game-time hard to come by this season, even though he has returned from his injury ordeals. While Xavi has used the youngster in all games for Barça, seldom has he started matches.

Fati’s current predicament has given way to rumours about his future, with Manchester United among the clubs said to be showing an interest in him.

Amidst this, SPORT is now reporting that Barcelona are not looking to sell Fati in the summer, but could consider such a possibility if the player himself wants to leave the club.

As iterated earlier, starting opportunities have come few and far between for Fati this season and the 20-year-old Spaniard has not played as much as he would have liked.

There is intense competition within the squad for starting berths, while Xavi’s recent shift in tactics to using four midfielders has also played a part in his reduced involvement.

What has not helped Fati’s case is that when he did get a few chances during Robert Lewandowski’s suspension, the academy product failed to make the most of it.

So, unless something drastic happens, it is likely that Fati will remain on the bench for the remainder of the season, especially for the big games.

While the player has not shown any desire to force an exit at this point, patience could start running thin if his situation does not change.

Amidst this, Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been collecting interest from other clubs. Manchester United, for one, are understood to be looking at the youngster to reinforce their frontline.

Barcelona, contrary to reports, are not actively looking to sell Fati at this point, even though they would need to make a big sale in the summer to help them deal with the Financial Fair Play issues.

The feeling within the Catalan club’s camp is that the 20-year-old’s situation will take a turn for the positive before the end of the season. However, all scenarios are open at this point.

Clubs from the Premier League, such as Manchester United have the wherewithal to table big offers. And a bid of around €100 million for Fati, who has a release clause worth €1 billion, could interest Barcelona, the report adds.

However, for now, the La Liga leaders are not looking to sell Ansu and believe that things will improve for the academy man. The only way Barcelona will consider a sale is if the player himself asks for it.
