Barcelona vs Celta Vigo: Match preview | La Liga

Article image:Barcelona vs Celta Vigo: Match preview | La Liga

FC Barcelona are in for another big La Liga game at the Montjuic Stadium soon as they welcome Celta Vigo. Already at the top of the league table, this is now an opportunity for the Catalan giants to extend that lead. However, Barcelona will need to be at their very best if they hope to make that happen.

Against Borussia Dortmund in their most recent game, the Catalan giants were far from being at their best. Ultimately, that led to them losing against the German side in the UEFA Champions League and a performance like that simply can not be allowed to happen again.

Match Overview:

So far this season, Barcelona have showcased their ability to perform well across multiple competitions. However, the final stretch of the season is now here and the team is expected to play some crucial fixtures without a lot of rest in between over the course of the next few weeks.

Celta Vigo, on the other hand, only have La Liga to focus on and that gives them a slight advantage in terms of physical fitness. Barcelona, on the other hand, are clearly becoming a victim of the fatigue that is being caused by their schedule and even Hansi Flick is not okay with it.

Still, in terms of form, Barça have only just suffered their first defeat of 2025 against Dortmund in their most recent game. Apart from that, La Blaugrana were undefeated since the start of January and perhaps that loss takes off a certain pressure as well.

Over the course of their last five games, Barça have won three games, drawn one, and lost once. In total, they have scored eight goals in five games and have conceded four. However, by the team’s usual standards, they have not scored as many goals as they tend to do normally.

Celta Vigo, on the other hand, have been enjoying quite the great run of form as well. With three wins, one draw, and one loss in their last five games, Barça’s opponents share identical results over the course of their last few outings.

With five goals scored and five conceded, they look to be a team that is quite balanced in their approach. Currently sitting in seventh place in La Liga, Barcelona simply cannot afford to take them lightly or they could end up with a result that gives additional motivation to their rivals in the title race.
