Fermin Lopez’s future has been the talk of the town in Barcelona over the past few days, and understandably so given the grey area around his desire, the club’s financial situation and the need to sell a big player.
The youngster was electric in pre-season for the team and has always been one to give his all for the crest. Rumours of him considering Chelsea’s offer, thus, shifted the spotlight to Joan Laporta and Co. as a possible case of them being pressed to sell.
Now, however, it has come to light that the Blaugrana are against the idea of a sale and have thus slapped a €90 million price tag on their academy graduate.
Earlier today, Barcelona’s vice-president Rafa Yuste stumbled upon journalists from El Chiringuito ahead of the UEFA Champions League draw and was asked a couple of short questions in the buildup to the same.
First, the journalist wished him the best of luck for the draw, which recently revealed Barcelona’s opponents in the league phase of the competition.
“Thank you,” Yuste responded graciously.

The media person then went on to use the opportunity to squeeze in a question on Fermin Lopez and the youngster’s future as he asked, “Is Fermin going to stay at Barcelona?”
Rafa Yuste’s calm response, needless to say, stole the limelight as he made it clear that the player would indeed stay at the club.
“He is at Barcelona,” he said.
Speaking to Movistar (h/t Mundo Deportivo) after the draw about the youngster’s future, Yuste added:
“Fermin has a contract with the club and we are very happy with him, and therefore he is a Barça player.”
Interestingly, the club most strongly linked with his signing – Chelsea – have been drawn up against Barcelona in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League, and the two teams will lock horns at Stamford Bridge in the coming months.
Whether Fermin will be dressed in garnet-and-blue on the night or the London-based team’s blue jersey remains to be seen, although Yuste’s response calms the rumours around his future.
