The Barcelona sphere is currently dominated by the headlines surrounding the future of captain and key defender Ronald Araujo.

The 25-year-old Uruguayan centre-back’s contract expires in the summer of 2026 and with no substantial progress in renewal talks, talks of an exit have become rife.

Araujo, for his part, is understood to be leaning towards an exit as he is unhappy with the renewal offers presented by Barça as well as his reduced role in the team.

But, as made clear by the club president Joan Laporta earlier today, the Catalans’ intention is to keep hold of Araujo despite the strong interest from Juventus.

Barcelona angry with Araujo’s agents

Amidst all this, journalist Fernando Polo (via Jijantes FC) has brought forward shocking information pertaining to the renewal talks between Barcelona and Araujo’s camp.

As per the journalist, Barcelona are very upset with Araujo’s representatives as they believe that the defender was not properly informed about the renewal offers and other matters discussed by the club’s sporting director Deco.

Indeed, the Blaugrana believe that the Uruguayan’s representatives held back some key information regarding the offers that the club had put forth – something that they learned through a close aide in Uruguay.

As a result of this, Araujo lacked all the necessary information, leading him to believe that Barcelona did not value him and were not interested in keeping him.

The update further adds that it was Barça president Laporta himself who warned the defender about the situation, informing him that the club had been sending him offers reflecting his status within the team and telling him to be wary about those around him.

Only those close to the situation will know how true this is but this is not the first time that reports have emerged about Barcelona’s concern about Araujo’s agents being behind him wanting to leave.

With key meetings scheduled between the club and the player in the coming days, it remains to be seen what sort of resolution they reach.
