Barcelona upset they sold Aubameyang to Chelsea

Barcelona continue to be a basket-case of a club with a report coming out that they regret selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea.

They are unable to do that, however, so now have to sit with their regret for the rest of the season.

The problem, it seems, stems from Memphis Depay, who was meant to leave in the summer. He was apparently close to a move to Juventus before he upped his wage demands, the Old Lady pulled out, and Barca found themselves stuck with two expensive forwards.

Unable to shift Depay, they had to sell Aubameyang, even though he was the more productive striker who had made an instant connection with the Barcelona fans.

So, unable to sell the former Manchester United forward, Barcelona sold Auba to Chelsea only for Depay to be sold to Atletico Madrid six months later for just €3m, despite him being valued at around €20m.

As for Aubameyang, he has found himself on the fringes of the Chelsea team since Graham Potter replaced the fired Thomas Tuchel.

He has played just 840 minutes this season (to compare, Gabriel Jesus, who has been injured since the start of December, has played 1,453 minutes), scoring three, assisting one and averaging under 50 minutes per appearance.

Aubameyang has played just 115 minutes of Chelsea’s last five league games, and it should also be noted that, in that time, Chelsea have one only two of those games, losing to both City and Fulham and drawing with Forest.
