FC Barcelona are always working on various new transfer operations. The Catalan giants, led by Hansi Flick this season, have showcased that they have the ability to succeed with this current squad. However, even then, Barcelona are never against the idea of recruiting new players if needed.
Still, that does not mean that the interest from the Catalan club will always stay right where it is. Even if Barcelona are interested in a certain player at one point, that does not mean that the interest from the club will remain there for any player to always have the option to get something out of it.
For German midfielder Joshua Kimmich, that is now the reality of things. According to SPORT, despite the contract negotiations between Bayern Munich and Kimmich not finding much success, Barcelona is not open to signing the Bundesliga player right now even if he arrives as a free agent.
While previously the club was interested in signing the 30-year-old German player, especially under Xavi Hernandez, they are no longer invested in that signing. The reason behind that is that Barcelona believe that their academy has the ability to produce elite midfielders, and Hansi Flick is onboard with this idea of trusting the youngsters.
So far this season, the likes of Pedri and Marc Casado have already showcased the value in this approach. Others have popped up as well, and there is simply no limit to the amount of talent that is waiting to be unlocked within the Catalan club.
Instead, the limited funds that the club does have are going to be allocated towards other positions. As for Kimmich himself, the option of joining Barcelona is no longer there, and reportedly, even Real Madrid is not currently interested in signing the player despite previous reports suggesting something else.
Ultimately, the asking price set by Bayern Munich and the player’s individual demands were both exceeding what Barcelona were previously open to agree to. Now, however, the player’s individual demands are reportedly too much for even Bayern Munich. French side PSG and English outfit Manchester City, on the other hand, are reportedly still interested in the player.
