Barcelona forward Ansu Fati certainly starts near the bottom of the pecking order for Hansi Flick this preseason, but he is determined to prove he can be useful to the German manager. While the Blaugrana are taking steps to try and continue his rehabilitation, they also have their minds on his departure.

The 21-year-old will be given a tailored fitness programme in order to try and get him sharp and durable for the coming season. After a disappointing loan at Brighton and Hove Albion, Fati was seen at the Ciutat Esportiva this week, and the young forward will hope to return to something like his former self back in Catalonia. The heirarchy at the club are also attracted by the idea of recovering Ansu too.

As per MD, Barcelona would rather hold onto to him and have him compete  for minutes at the club than send him out on another loan, and are not keen to pay the majority of his salary if he does leave. Were an offer of €40m or more to come in for Ansu, Barcelona would be more than happy to consider it though. Fati is keen to hang around for preseason at least, and give Barcelona and Flick a reason to hang onto to him for the coming year.

Their chances of receiving an offer that large seem rather slim. Sevilla had enquired about Fati on a potential loan deal, but his hometown club are in no position to foot the bill for his salary. The issue with Fati is that since his injury issues started, he is yet to ever have enough of a run of games in a row to regain match fitness, but his opportunities to do so at Barcelona and Brighton have been slim.
