Journalist Jordi Gil has reported via SPORT that Barcelona are not at all interested in signing RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo.

A few days ago, we reported that Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, met with Miquel Olmo, father of the Leipzig midfielder, but that meeting had nothing to do with the Spaniard.

Interestingly, Miquel happens to be one of the executives of Mikayil Faye’s representation and as reported before, the delegates from the two sides met for the defender’s continuity and not for Olmo.

For what it is worth, Miquel acts as sports director of Niagara Sports, a company run by Juanma Lopez in Spain.

Dani Olmo is not within Barcelona’s budget

It was only yesterday that we reported how difficult it is going to be for Leipzig to retain the attacking midfielder beyond the current season.

It must be noted that Olmo has a release clause worth €60 million in his current contract and given his performance, coupled with Leipzig’s struggles in the Bundesliga, the German team might have to make peace with the fact that he might leave.

Given Olmo’s value, it is safe to say that spending €60 million for the attacking midfielder would be unattainable for Barcelona, especially since the current priority is signing a defensive midfielder.

Any potential targets?

There are indeed!

As reported before, Barcelona have several names on their agenda, including the likes of madou Onana, Joshua Kimmich, Martin Zubimendi, Guido Rodriguez and Mats Wieffer.

As of today, the team from Catalonia has not made a firm decision but it is indeed certain that a new defensive pivot will be acquired considering that their gamble with Oriol Romeu did not play off well.

For now, one can expect Andreas Christensen to continue playing in the centre, but it is certain that this tactic cannot persist for long.
