The saga surrounding Barcelona’s new kits will continue this week. After starting La Liga against Mallorca wearing last season’s third strip – the lime green 2024/25 design – it appears likely the shirt will remain in use once again this weekend.
It was deemed that all three of Barcelona’s new kit designs for the 2025/26 season would clash with Mallorca’s colours. Now, it seems that La Liga are insisting on the same for the upcoming game against Levante.
Indeed, according to SPORT, Barcelona will be unable to debut their third kit against Levante later this Saturday due to a decision by La Liga.
The decision to don which kit for a game does not lie with the club, but with the match director appointed by the competition.
The protocol is straightforward: both clubs upload their options into the official ‘Kit Selector’ application, and once approved, the definitive combination is validated.

For the Mallorca game, none of Barcelona’s three new kits passed the filter, leading to the team beginning the 2025/26 league season wearing a jersey from last term.
Now, in the second matchday, barring a last-minute change, Barcelona will once again be forced to wear the same strip at Levante’s Ciutat de Valencia.
According to La Liga, the home side’s colours clash with all three of Barcelona’s new designs – including the orange third kit.
The decision brings back a curious memory. In 2014, Barcelona played at the Ciutat de Valencia in an orange kit during Luis Enrique’s first season, winning 0–5 in a shirt remarkably similar to this year’s third design, which is still awaiting its official debut.
On this occasion, however, La Liga has refused approval, insisting that the orange shade could be confused with Levante’s red.
Meanwhile, the Barcelona third kit for 2025/26 has not yet been launched on the club’s official channels or website. But it is already available for purchase on various Nike stores in different parts of the world.
