According to reports from Oriol Domenech, former Barcelona right-back Dani Alves had offered his services to the Catalan side once again. The Brazilian has reportedly called the club offices to let his interest be known.

The right-back was a crucial part of Pep Guardiola’s dream team and also the Champions League-winning Barcelona team of 2014-15.

Since then, he went on to play not only for Juventus in Serie A but also for Paris Saint Germain in Ligue 1. The most decorated player in football history kept adding new domestic titles and championships to his tally.

After his spell at PSG, Alves agreed to what would be a fairytale return to his home country. It was a childhood dream for the defender to play for Sao Paulo, and it was realized when he moved to the club in 2020.

After a transfer window filled with links to other clubs in the Brazilian League, Alves terminated his contract with Sao Paulo on September 16. Despite being without a club, he was adamant that he was not closing the doors on his playing days.

Now, Mundo Deportivo have revealed that while Barcelona were initially considering his return, they have now ruled it out owing to ageing concerns with the team.

Joan Laporta and co. think that their team have too many veterans at this point, and bringing in Dani Alves could cause yet another shift of balance in the Barcelona dressing room.
