However, the pursuit of Vitor Roque will not be straightforward. A recent report from Diario SPORT has revealed that the player’s father is currently in London, amid interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

The two Premier League giants could be in negotiations with his father, who is seeking out potential alternatives for his son if the move to Barcelona is not completed – potentially sparking a bidding war.

Earlier, Roque’s father was also in Paris, where he might have help talks with Paris Saint-Germain – another club interested in the youngster’s services.

His father, though, is expected to touch down in Barcelona at the end of the week. Given that the player is determined to join Barça, we can expect the club officials to hold talks with Roque’s father and sort out the club’s convictions in the coming summer.

Although Barcelona are determined to sign someone like Vitor Roque, Athletico Paranaense’s steep demands, coupled with the club’s own economic state mean that a transfer to Camp Nou is far from a guarantee.

In fact, the Catalans are seemingly considering the possibility to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been identified as a fallback option, should Barça fail to sign the young Brazilian in the coming summer.
