Barcelona to turn to Aubameyang after Morata signing falls apart

Barcelona could be returning to the frame for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as their move for Alvaro Morata falls apart.

Gerard Romero reports that Barcelona’s move for Alvaro Morata is currently off the table, as Juventus don’t want the player to leave and Atletico Madrid are setting complicated conditions for a potential move.

Morata is currently on loan with Juventus from Atletico, so Barcelona would need to convince both clubs to agree on some kind of deal.

The result is that Barcelona may instead turn to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Times report that Barcelona are one of a couple of Spanish clubs Aubameyang has been offered to, along with Sevilla. With Sevilla signing Anthony Martial, Barcelona certainly look the more likely of those two.

There are other clubs in the mix, including Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille, and AC Milan, according to The Telegraph.

As Aubameyang looks to secure a potential move away from Arsenal this month, he’s not joining the squad on their mid-season trip to Dubai.

Multiple reports over the last few days have detailed that the former club captain is not expected to travel, as his absence from Arsenal’s matchday squads approaches the end of its second month.

Arsenal technical director Edu and director of football operations Richard Garlick are also planning to stay behind to work on possible transfer deals.
