Barcelona to host special ceremony for Lamine Yamal’s renewal and No. 10 shirt presentation on July 16 | OneFootball

Lamine Yamal signed his new contract renewal with Barcelona earlier this summer, committing to the club until the summer of 2031.

The renewal will come into effect from July 13 – the day he will turn 18 years old. The initial signing of the contract took place in a low-key affair inside the club offices.

But as reported earlier this week, Barça plan to hold a special ceremony for the same with all his family members present.

Ceremony on July 16

Initially, it was believed that Lamine would sign the contract and be handed the club’s No. 10 shirt on his birthday on July 13.

However, now, according to Jijantes FC, Barcelona are planning to hold a special ceremony where Lamine will sign his contract and be presented at the club’s new No. 10 on Wednesday, July 16.

While the official announcement of him being handed the iconic shirt number could still take place this Sunday, the presentation event is being planned for the afternoon of July 16.

It makes sense for Barça not to have the presentation on July 13, considering that it is the day of the start of the pre-season, and all players will be expected to undergo medical examinations before kickstarting preparations for the new campaign.

What is clear is that Lamine is seen as the face of this new Barcelona team, and the club is going all in on the 17-year-old La Masia sensation.

Having enjoyed a stunning campaign, where he played a key role in the Catalans’ domestic treble triumph, Lamine is only going to get better with age and experience.

And with a contract until 2031, Barcelona have made sure that the youngster will remain tied to the club for a long time.
