Barcelona have threatened legal action over Frenkie de Jong’s current contract.

According to The Athletic, Barcelona sent a letter to the player last month to claim they have found ‘evidence of criminal actions’ from the parties involved in the 25-year-old’s contract renewal, which was signed in October 2020.

Barcelona have made a request with De Jong asking him to go back to the contract he was on previously – after signing for the club in 2019 – or face legal action.

Meanwhile, reports suggest De Jong has told friends that he would prefer a move to Chelsea over United — seemingly because they can immediately offer him Champions League.

This has led to United being linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

Reliable French journalist Julien Laurens claims Rabiot is keen on a transfer to United and that talks are underway with his mum and agent.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Rabiot would be a good alternative option for De Jong? We are not convinced.
