La Liga giants Barcelona have early this week been credited with an interest in one of South American football’s standout breakthrough talents.
The player in question? Vitor Reis.
The name of youngster Reis has long taken its place front and centre in the transfer chatter across Spain.
This comes amid the understanding that the brass at Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the development of the Palmeiras prodigy, with a view to a future bid for his signature.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, then Los Blancos are not the only one of Spanish football’s leading clubs to have had their attentions piqued by Reis.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, citing The Athletic, Barcelona have positioned themselves in the race for the 18-year-old defender.
The competition is fierce, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all in the running, too, but the Barca hierarchy appear ready to do battle, to secure a player regarded as a potential superstar in the making in his home country of Brazil.
