Barcelona, aiming to secure a safety net should players like Luis Diaz and Nico Williams prove difficult to acquire, shifted their attention to Hull City forward Jaden Philogene as a cost-effective alternative.

However, reports earlier today came out to claim that Philogene prefers a move to the Premier League, making it difficult for the Catalans to pursue his signature.

Philogene’s agent works in vain

The winger’s agent Ivo Camacho has posted several images of him on his Instagram stories traveling to Barcelona.

He publicly documented his trip to Barcelona, including images from the boarding gate, his arrival at Barcelona-El Prat Airport, and his visit to FC Barcelona’s offices.

However, according to SPORT, these images were actually taken a month ago and do not mean anything.

Barça attempted to secure the young player on a loan deal with an option to purchase valued between €20 and €23 million at the end of the season.

But Philogene continues to prioritize a move to the Premier League and his agent’s social media posts could simply be considered a negotiating tactic with other clubs.

Premier League teams like Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town, and Everton have shown interest in signing him, and one of those clubs could likely be his next destination.

Nico Williams still the priority

Amidst this latest setback, Barcelona will be vying to ensure they can get their hands on their priority targets.

According to a prior report, Barcelona are optimistic about bolstering their Financial Fair Play situation sufficiently to secure the summer signing of Nico Williams from Athletic Club.

Progress is expected to be made soon and Nico Williams’ strong performances at the Euros only serve to strengthen the Catalans’ desire to acquire his services.
