Barcelona are on the brink of officially signing goalkeeper Joan Garcia, with the final formalities scheduled for Tuesday.

As per SPORT, Garcia’s legal representative will deposit his release clause, €25 million, at La Liga’s offices after the long weekend in Barcelona, where Monday is a public holiday.

The move will trigger the final phase of the transfer, allowing the player to begin his new journey with the Blaugrana in early July.

The deal between Barça and Garcia has been fully agreed for days now. In fact, the contracts have already been drawn up, reviewed, and prepared since last Friday.

The outlet mentions that the entire process unfolded at an unexpectedly rapid pace, surprising even Garcia himself.

The quickness and clarity of Barcelona’s approach sent a strong message that he is a key figure in the club’s future sporting plans.

Once Barcelona gave the necessary sporting guarantees, the economic side of the deal was resolved swiftly. The club’s proposal was the most attractive Garcia had received, making the decision clear despite external pressure.

For the 24-year-old, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and he had no intention of letting it slip by. After reaching a five-year agreement, only a small clause required last-minute discussion.

Everything else has been legally finalised, with only the official payment of the termination clause remaining. Once the money is deposited, Garcia will officially become a Barcelona player.

Espanyol, meanwhile, have already been informed of the player’s decision by his agents and are simply waiting for the clause to be activated so they can collect the money and begin planning for next season.

While losing their goalkeeper is a blow, the club understands his ambition and is now preparing to move forward.
