A report from Xavi Canals, via SPORT has mentioned that Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski rejected a mind-boggling offer worth €150 million per season from Saudi Arabia last summer as he wanted to continue at the club.

The veteran forward is, in fact, so inclined to represent Barcelona that he does not wish to leave the team until he fulfils his ongoing contract, which runs until 2026.

Lewandowski is undergoing a troubled run of form so much so that he has scored a solitary goal in his last five matches. Over the last few weeks, a lot has been said about his return including the fact that he is not getting enough services from his teammates.

In the last few matches, however, it has been observed that the forward, himself, is not participating as much as he should.

Barcelona could benefit, but Lewy wants to stay

As a result of his form coupled with the potential arrival of Vitor Roque, Barcelona might as well benefit from the Pole, thanks to the interest he has generated across the Middle East.

Right now, the Professional League of Saudi Arabia has declared its renewed interest in securing his services, and recent reports even suggested that Barça might be open to a sale, so as to fund move for other targets such as Bruno Guimaraes.

But Lewandowski has reiterated his commitment to Barcelona, making it evident during the summer that he has no plans to depart from the club.

This determination was underscored by his rejection of a substantial annual offer amounting to €150 million annually from the Middle East.

Despite the challenging phase at Barcelona, the Poland international’s stance remains resolute. He remains persistent in his determination to honour the contractual agreement with the club, that runs until June 30, 2026.

Lewandowski’s wife confirms intentions

And an interview given by his wife, Anna Lewandowska, to the website ‘Onet’ only confirms the veteran superstar’s intention.

Explaining how things how changed for her and Lewandowski, Anna said: “When we lived in Munich, I was completely absorbed in work. I was getting into a kind of whirlwind and sometimes I wondered why I was doing that. Robert also asked me that question.

“After I moved to Barcelona I changed my outlook on life. I started to value it more and enjoy it to the fullest. The Catalans have taught me that there is only one life and that it is worth enjoying it.”

Further adding, Lewandowski’s partner said: “You could say that Catalonia is my place and I hope we settle here and stay for a long time, because our daily life here is completely different from Warsaw or Munich.”
