Barcelona’s Uruguayan defender, Ronald Araujo, is on track for a potential return to play by late November, following a period of recovery from a serious injury.

Journalist Sergi de Juan, reporting for AS, noted that he may rejoin the squad for the November 23rd match against Celta in La Liga or the November 26th Champions League clash against Brest.

This timeline would ultimately mark the end of a long four-month journey since his setback.

Out since July

Araujo’s injury took place during a Copa America match in July when he suffered a severe muscle tear in his right thigh.

The injury was significant enough to require surgery, and though Barcelona initially refrained from publicly confirming the exact time he would be out, estimates indicated a four-month rehabilitation period.

Now, three months into recovery, Araujo’s progress appears promising, impressing the club’s recovery staff who closely monitor his conditioning.

This week, Araujo shared an image of himself training on the pitch at Ciudad Deportiva, a clear sign that he is well into his rehabilitation.

The club is encouraged by his steady improvements, but they remain cautious, given Araujo’s history of recurring physical issues.

His tendency towards injuries means the medical and coaching staff are wary of rushing his comeback, prioritising his long-term stability on the field.

Returning soon

If his recovery remains on this positive path, Araujo could see limited playtime by the end of November.

Barcelona’s support staff are working to ensure he is fully prepared to avoid any risk of reinjury, which could extend his absence even further.

With his anticipated return, the squad will welcome back one of its strongest defenders, hoping he will strengthen their backline as the team tackles both domestic and European competitions in the crucial final months of the year.
