Barcelona star midfielder Pedri slammed referee Szymon Marciniak after last night’s Champions League defeat at Inter Milan.

During his post-match interview via FCInterNews, Pedri urged UEFA ‘to investigate’ the Polish official.

Szymon Marciniak’s performance at San Siro was scandalous.

And that’s a generous description, considering he needed VAR to bail him out in several crucial moments.

However, Marciniak’s decisions affected both teams.

For instance, had it not been for VAR’s intervention, Inter wouldn’t have gotten a penalty for a clear foul on Lautaro Martinez.

Moreover, Barcelona would’ve had a chance to go 3-2 up from a non-existing spot-kick.

Yet, Pedri may have a point.

Marciniak’s decision not to book Henrikh Mkhitaryan for a cynical tackle on Lamine Yamal was dubious.

That’s particularly significant when factoring in the Armenian was already on a yellow card.

Therefore, the young gun lost it after the game, calling UEFA to take measures against the 44-year-old.

“It’s not the first time this has happened to us with this referee,” Pedri said. “UEFA should investigate.

“There are things I don’t understand and are hard to explain. All the 50-50 calls went their way.

“On the penalty incident with Lamine Yamal, which was later ruled a foul, he didn’t book Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who would’ve been sent off.”

Despite losing in controversial circumstances, Pedri was proud of Barcelona’s display at San Siro.

And frankly, he had every reason, as Inter progressed by the skin of their teeth.

“I’m proud of the team,” Pedri continued. “A little disappointed because we managed to come back from a very unfavorable result.

“It’s very cruel. It’s true that the team gave everything and deserved to reach the final.

“However, we’re young and we have to learn from this experience, and next year we’ll fight even harder.

“Now we lick our wounds, but starting tomorrow we have to focus on Real Madrid because the league title is at stake.”
