Barcelona enjoyed a decent end to their summer transfer business after acquiring Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo on loan until the end of this campaign.
In total, the Catalan club brought in five new players this summer (via transfermarkt). Hence, Xavi should be optimistic about his side’s chances of having another successful season in Spain.
Romeu signed from Girona in a deal worth €3.4m. He has made a solid start to his spell at the Nou Camp and is expected to fill the void left by Sergio Busquets’ exit from the Catalan club this summer.
Ilkay Gundogan
Gundogan joined Barcelona on a free transfer after being released by Manchester City. The German talent has made a decent start to his Barca career after picking up a couple of assists in four appearances for them this season. Xavi would hope that he can find some form in front of the opponent’s goal when La Liga resumes after this international break.
Inigo Martinez
Barca completed the capture of Inigo Martinez from Athletic Bilbao on a free transfer earlier this summer. The veteran defender would now look to have a solid campaign at the Nou Camp.

Joao Cancelo
Cancelo completed a loan move to Barcelona recently. He will now be expected to perform at a high level on the right side of Xavi’s defence.
Joao Felix
Felix sealed a loan move from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer. He had an underwhelming loan spell at Chelsea last season and would now hope to reignite his career at the Catalan club.
Ousmane Dembele – Paris Saint-Germain for €50m
Antoine Griezmann – Atletico Madrid for €20m
Franck Kessie – Al-Ahli for €12.5m
Nico Gonzalez – FC Porto for €8.4m
Sergio Busquets – Inter Miami (free transfer)
Jordi Alba – Inter Miami (free transfer)
Xavi has decided to bring in three experienced players in the form of Oriol Romeu, Ilkay Gundogan and Inigo Martinez. They will all play a key role in determining whether Barca ends up having another successful season in Spanish football.
Barcelona also managed to sign Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo on loan which will definitely bolster their squad in this 2023-24 La Liga campaign.
