Barcelona striker Depay: My first season didn't go as I imagined

Memphis Depay admits his first season with Barcelona didn't progress out as he wanted.

A Bosman signing from Lyon, Depay struggled for minutes under coach Xavi after he replaced Ronald Koeman before Christmas.

Depay said, "My first season hasn't turned out the way I imagined, we have to keep working and improving to reach our goals next year.

"I came here wanting to play for the team. I want to be important for the team next year and several more years."

On his battle for minutes, he added: "It's normal for you to have a lot of competition at Barça. I play for the best club in the world."
