The second pair of Women's Champions League quarter-final first legs took place tonight.
Scorers: Kvamme 39'; Hansen 9', Paralluelo 72'
Barcelona's quest to make it back-to-back Champions League triumphs is well and truly alive after a 2-1 victory away to Brann.
They wasted little time in asserting their dominance, opening the scoring inside 10 minutes.
It came from their own Norwegian, Caroline Graham Hansen, who silenced her fellow countrymen with a brilliant finish. It was her 50th goal contribution of an incredible season.
Despite having little of the ball and being peppered with shots from the defending champions, Brann found an equaliser six minutes before the break.
After some neat build up play, the ball was flashed across the box where Cecile Redisch Kvamme was on hand to squeeze the ball into the Barça net.
Barça continued to dominate after the break, having most of the ball and nearly all of the chances yet failing to find a way through the home side.
The pressure eventually paid of in the 72nd minute when Salma Paralluelo brilliantly put her side back into the lead. Receiving the ball inside the box, she swivelled and struck home for her sixth goal of this Champions League season.
They could and probably should have won by a bigger margin but Jonatan Giráldez will be nonetheless delighted to have one foot in the semi-finals ahead of next week's return leg.
Scorers: Kafaji 42'; Gaetino 23', Chawinga 74'
PSG have more than one foot in the Women's Champions League semi-finals after a hard-fought 2-1 first-leg win away to a determined Häcken outfit.
Heavy favourites for the tie, they started the better, dominating possession in the opening periods, eventually breaking the deadlock in the 23rd minute.
A measured free kick found its way to Tabitha Chawinga and her header was then just about redirected into the net by Eva Gaiteno. It was the American defender's first Champions League goal.
Häcken did not drop their heads though, and created several chances before levelling the scores three minutes before half-time.
Rusul Kafaji saw her penalty brilliantly saved by PSG keeper Katarzyna Kiedrzynek but stooped low to head home the rebound.
The home side remained resolute into the second half but PSG found a way to get their noses back in front with less than 20 minutes to go.
After breaking from defence, a ball was floated into the box that Häcken did not deal with. It came to Chawinga, who steadied herself before coolly slotting home from yards out.
The Parisians comfortably held out for an important first-leg win and will now to look to seal the deal at home next week.
