Youngster Torre is for his part fresh off a fine pre-season, which saw the the 21-year-old, after a year on loan with Girona, establish himself as a key figure in new boss Hansi Flick’s midfield.

So much so, that Torre is considered more likely than not to be handed a starting berth in Barca’s season opener.

As per a report from Diario Sport, Blaugrana summer signing Dani Olmo (should he be registered in time) is expected to take his place on the bench against Valencia on Saturday night.

This comes with the 26-year-old yet to redicsover full fitness following a late return from Spain’s triumphant Euro 2024 campaign.

With Pedri sidelined, and Fermín López yet to return following his endeavours at the Olympic Games, it is the aforementioned Pablo Torre who is therefore emerging as Barca’s leading option to act as midfield spearhead at Mestalla.

A surprise early opportunity for the youngster to impress, and one which could prove altogether important when it comes to his status at the Camp Nou for the campaign ahead…
