Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen will not be called upon for the club’s upcoming pre-season tour of Asia.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have late this week provided an insight into the situation.

The name of goalkeeper Ter Stegen has of course reemerged as a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the German international could be forced under the knife over the coming weeks.

Ter Stegen, amid ongoing speculation surrounding his future, has not featured in group activities in Barcelona training across the week to date.

As much comes as a result of an ongoing back problem.

And though a final call is yet to be made on a potential surgical procedure, Ter Stegen appears certain to miss the Blaugrana’s fast-approaching tour of Asia.

As per a report from Sport:

‘What is clear is that Ter Stegen will not travel on the Asian tour and his ailment is a serious setback for him to leave in this summer market.’
