A headline member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has been training away from the rest of the club’s squad across the week to date.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
The player being put through individualised work with a view to next week’s return to action comes in the form of Pedri.
Youngster Pedri is of course fresh off a comeback from his latest spell on the sidelines, on this occasion owing to a thigh problem.
The 21-year-old managed appearances in each of Barcelona’s last four fixtures across all competitions, most recently against Real Madrid this past weekend.
Just one of these outings, however, came in the form of a start.
And, evidently, as much came for good reason.
As per the aforementioned MD, Pedri is still in the process of working his way back to full fitness.
The Spanish international, in turn, has not joined back up with the rest of Xavi’s squad in training this week, instead being put through a personalised workout schedule in the gym.
This comes amid a conscious effort to ensure that Pedri does not suffer yet another setback, amid what has proven an injury-plagued campaign.
Nevertheless, he is expected to be at the disposal of boss Xavi next Monday, when Barca welcome Valencia to Montjuïc.
