A sidelined member of the first-team ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is ready to cut short his summer vacation, to ramp up his efforts to return to the pitch.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS, who points towards Marc Bernal as the player in question.
Bernal, for his part, was of course dealt a hammer blow all the way back in August of last year.
After establishing himself as a key figure in the engine room setup of new boss Hansi Flick at just 17 years of age, Bernal picked up a knee problem late in a 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano.
As much was subsequently confirmed to be an ACL tear, ruling the starlet out for the long-term.
Updates on his recovery have since been few and far between, amid hopes of Bernal being back fully fit and firing for the beginning of next season.
As alluded to above, though, on Wednesday, a fresh insight into the situation has been provided.
The info comes courtesy of the aforementioned Javier Miguel, who confirms that:
‘The club had announced he would be out for twelve months . However, that timeframe has now been substantially reduced: in principle, the roadmap sets his return for early August, thus cutting that time by almost a month.’
Bernal has already made the call to return to work at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on July 1st, just shy of two weeks before the rest of Hansi Flick’s squad.
This comes to further ramp up his recovery, with a view to taking his place on the club’s pre-season tour of Asia.
