Barcelona's 125th anniversary game with Las Palmas took a worrying turn midway through the first half.
The current LaLiga leaders were aiming to temporarily open up a seven-point gap but suffered a huge blow as Alejandro Balde was stretchered off just 26 minutes in.
A collision with Sandro Ramírez saw the Blaugrana left-back hit the turf in visible discomfort after appearing to take a blow to the neck.
Balde was later stretchered off at Montjuïc as Barça sent on Gerard Martín in his place with both teams granted an additional substitute due to concussion protocol.
Things went from bad to worse for the hosts as they slipped to a 2-1 loss which opened up the title race that could see Real Madrid move to within a point of them.
