A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week provided his take on the ongoing battle for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
The player in question? Raphinha.
Wide-man Raphinha is for his part of course fresh off nothing short of a spectacular individual campaign in Catalunya’s capital in 2024/25.
En route to Barcelona clinching a domestic treble, the Brazilian looked a player reborn in the all-out attacking setup employed by new boss Hansi Flick.
All told, across all competitions, Raphinha racked up a remarkable 59 direct goal contributions.
Such production has given rise to inevitable chatter surrounding a potential Ballon d’Or charge on the part of the former Leeds United man, albeit with teammate Lamine Yamal and Paris Saint-Germain standout Ousmane Dembélé considered the two current frontrunners.
Speaking during an interview with Diario Sport this weekend, Raphinha, in turn, was asked whom he feels is deserving of the next ‘Golden Ball’.
And the 28-year-old was blunt in his response:
“Ballon d’Or? I just want the award to be fair, that’s all.”
