Barcelona star sends message of support to Xavi Simons after Euro 2024 exit | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has tonight moved to issue a message of public support to Netherlands star Xavi Simons.

As much comes after Simons and his compatriots were sent packing from Euro 2024 in heartbreaking fashion.

Locking horns with England in the competition’s semi-finals, Ronald Koeman’s troops were condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result.

This came after Ollie Watkins emerged from the bench, to net the game’s winner deep into injury-time.

All of a Dutch persuasion, in turn, were left looking understandably crestfallen on the back of the full-time whistle in Dortmund.

And amongst them was the aforementioned Xavi Simons, whose stunning opener on the night proved itself to be little more than a consolation upon proceedings being brought to a close.

The RB Leipzig star was therefore the recipient of a number of heartfelt messages of support, from fans, players and neutrals alike.

And front and centre in as much, as alluded to above, was Barcelona star Alejandro Balde.

Balde and Simons are known to boast a close friendship off the pitch, after spending time developing together in Barcelona’s La Masia academy.
