Barcelona star Pedri to miss Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid | OneFootball

Barcelona will be without midfielder Pedri when they face Real Madrid in La Liga on Sunday, reports The Athletic.

The Spaniard has been injured since the Catalans played Manchester United in the first leg of the Europa League play-offs.

Pedri picked up a thigh injury during the game but recently returned to training.

However, the 20-year-old was unable to complete a training session today.

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente had included Pedri in his first squad earlier today.

However, the Barca star will be unavailable for his country’s European qualifiers against Norway and Scotland.

He will use the two-week break to continue his recuperation and recovery.

Pedri could be available for the next and last El Clasico of the season.

Barcelona face Madrid in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final on April 5.

They won 1-0 in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu last month and will be confident ahead of the return leg.

Having Pedri available for that game will be a massive boost.

He has missed his side’s last six games across all competitions.

They have lost two of those games and won the other four.

Barca manager Xavi would have loved to have Pedri available for Sunday’s game.

Victory at Camp Nou will see the La Liga leaders move 12 points clear of Madrid at the top of the table.

Establishing such a significant lead after 26 games would all but guarantee clinching the title for Barca.

Pedri has six goals in 21 La Liga games this term and has been hugely influential for his side.

The club are looking to win the league title for the first time since 2019, and they need their number 8 back as soon as possible.
